Sub Focus ft Kenzie May - Falling Down

New Music | Sub Focus | Kenzie May

Well if the video to Falling Down doesn't make you want to go to Global Gathering 2012 then I don't know what would. I love the crossover between the electronic genres happening right now. Pure dubstep can be really grimy. Which can be good when you're underground, surrounded by half naked sweaty pikeys. But with headphones on some nice ambient chords are always going to go down a treat. Annnnnnnd reintroducing Mr Sub Focus, ladies and gents. Enthusiastic clapping.

Chase & Status - Flashing Lights (ft Sub Focus)

New Music | Chase & Status

It's not great on paper (with a million collaborations), and it's not great in real life to be honest, but No More Idols does have a couple of chicken nuggets and Flashing Lights is brought to life by our old chum Sub Focus (whose remix of Empire Of The Sun's We Are The People is still one of my all time favourite remixes). Don't buy the album but go buy gig tickets as you can bet your grandma's walking stick a max of 10% of those 'featured' artists will turn up live on stage and you can enjoy a less adulterated Chase & Status.

Sub Focus - Move Higher

New Music | Sub Focus

Oh calm down, we're busy. Festival season soon. Chill. So, having been brought up on Dylan, Clapton, Knopfler, Basie, Sinatra etc I can hold my own discussing the finer points of the recording techniques at the 1938 Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert, Mandela's 70th Birthday tribute and all that. The same people who might ask me if I prefer Hodges or Bechet also then wonder why, and how, in god's name, can I love anything that sounds like an audio representation of life at Guantanamo Bay (as one friend once put it).

My, probably unsatisfactory, answer is that there's something about electronic sounds that are just so crisp and satisfying that they always give me a little shiver down my spine. Plus this takes me back to early Prodigy and those were goooood times.
